What is an Agricultural Society?
Ardrossan Recreation & Agricultural Society (also operates as ARAS) is an Alberta registered, incorporated Agricultural Society, organized under the Agricultural Societies Act of Alberta which states:
The object of a society is to encourage improvement in agriculture and in the quality of life of persons living in an agricultural community by developing programs, services and facilities based on needs in the agricultural community.

There are about 294 agricultural societies in Alberta that receive operating funding from the Alberta Agriculture Societies Program.
