The ARAS Community Growing Patch is a place for learning about how to grow food in a cheerful community setting. We are thrilled to offer a session on fall garlic & dormant seed taught by a local neighbourhood practitioner, Carlene Schneider. This is a hands-on activity - be prepared to get your hands dirty! Free, drop-in, and fun :)
The Great Rural Race
Join ARAS & the Great Rural Race Committee for a 2.5K Walk/5K Run to raise money for the Robin Hood Association! Your ticket includes race entry, a meal, and a t-shirt*.
Choose between a fully paved 2.5 km route or a partially paved 5 km route.
Meal will be provided for every race entry (Extra food will be available for spectators to purchase)
A t-shirt will be included in your ticket price (if purchased before Sept 1, 2024), your size will be guaranteed; after this date, sizing will be first-come first-served based on availability.)
Early Bird Tickets (those purchased prior to July 7th) are entered to win a paddleboard sponsored by Anahola Board Co.!
There will be a Kidzone as well as a Market on site.

SVTA Pull and Show

“Come join us for our Annual Pull and Show! Tractor weigh-ins start Friday evening at 5pm and again Saturday morning from 8am-9:30am. Pull starts at 10am on Saturday morning with the lighter weight classes and Sunday morning at 9am with the heavier weight classes. Check out our vendor tent, free kids’ activities, sawmill and threshing demonstrations, food trucks and garage sale.”

Coffee and Conversation with Councillor Aaron Nelson
Join Councillor Nelson for insights and updates on some of the latest developments throughout the County. This is also an excellent opportunity for you to express your ideas, ask questions, and share any concerns you may have regarding our rural Ward 5 region.

ARAS - P&P Float Decorating Party
Calling all crafty individuals...
We will be hosting a float decorating "party" for ARAS's parade entry.
This is an ultra-fun, low-pressure way to meet other ARAS volunteers/craft lovers alike.
This year's theme for the Parade & Picnic is "Bee Wild (and Domestic)" ...so you can expect our entry to follow that theme!
This will be held at a private residence; day/time is tentative (we will adjust accordingly based on weather forecast closer to the date)

Mulch Water Weed Workshop
Drop in to our Mulch, Water, and Weed Program with Carlene Schneider! Come learn about all the unconventional things you can use as mulch, grow to love weeding your garden, and help us set up a drip irrigation system to water our Three Sisters planted last week.

ARAS Scarecrow Competition 2023

* Open to residents of Ardrossan (& surrounding rural community)
* Last day to submit your entry is October 28 (voting starts October 29)
* List/Map of Scarecrow locations will be published (names of competitors will not be published)
* $300 in Prizes (People's Choice Award, ARAS Board Award, Community Spirit Award)
* Voting Ends October 31 @ Midnight (voting will occur on ARAS's website)
* Winners will be published, and contact via email after votes are tallied
ARAS Halloween Craft Night: Barb-Eeee!
Things are going to get a little weird Saturday Oct 21st, when Barbie joins the party! Celebrate Halloween with us by using your imagination....
COME ON BARBIE, LET'S GO PARTY!
Bring your sense of fun, and creativity (or lack thereof), and enjoy some drinks and snacks as we laugh a little...or a LOT. Proudly display your creation for all to see this Halloween!
Do you love to create/craft things? Do you love the spooky season? Have you always looked for an excuse to have your very own Afterlife Barbie?! -- Well, you're in luck; join us for the destruction!
This will be an all ages event; however, based on the more 'mature' nature of our craft, our recommendation is youth+. Youth must be accompanied by an adult.
Light snacks/appetizers will be provided as part of your admission, and drink/alcohol sales will be available. You must show valid ID to purchase liquor.
Barbie's (and crafting supplies) are provided, and will range in size/shape/level of current destruction. Feel free to bring some extras of your own, or some specialized crafting supplies if you prefer.
Outgrown It Sale
- Free admission to the public.
- Variety of gently used baby/children items and clothing, outerwear, toys, books and games.
